School Business Professional Standard ST0575 Level 4

The School Business Professional programme is aimed at those working in a school finance department, responsible for managing finance, resources, and business operations. The programme will provide participants with valuable confirmation of their abilities and knowledge as School Business Professional staff.

Our programme Covers:

It is assessed by an End Point Assessment based on evidence gathered covering the following learning topics and materials:

  • School Finance and Funding

  • Procurement

  • Staff contracts and HR

  • Managing Support Services

  • School Marketing

  • Business awareness
  • Understanding the employer organisation
  • Accounting systems and processes
  • Basic accounting
  • Ethical standards
  • Change Management

  • Communication and Relationship Management

  • Governance, Risk, Regulations and Policies

  • Strategic Management

Any current and relevant school finance and operational business leadership experience is brought into focus as this programme develops your knowledge, skills, and behaviours to improve your achievements and experience in your role as a Business Professional in the School.

Your assessment comprises three elements:

A. Portfolio of evidence

Apprentices will need to produce a portfolio of evidence through work activity- this will include evidence built up through the course and from feedback from line managers and peers.

B. project

Apprentices will need to provide a 2000-5000word report showing how you have responded to completing a project to improve school finance and business leadership.

C. professional discussion

Apprentices will need to complete a structured discussion lasting up to 60 minutes about themselves, their role, the project, and your personal development.

Qualifications:

At the end of the programme successful apprentices will be awarded the School Business Professional. Candidates will be eligible to become a Full Member of the Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL – formerly National Association of School Business Management) upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Entry requirements:

Individual employers may set different requirements. Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths on entry must achieve this level before taking the end-point assessment.

Our programme:

The programme includes the support required to help the Apprentice develop understanding and competence to Level 2 in English and maths. The Employer is required to support the Apprentice and to allow them time, in working hours to study and develop their knowledge, skills and behaviour off the job as well as on the job.

 

The programme is typically 15-18 months duration.
